Reactive Recycling

Thermoform PET with far more recycled content.

Without brittle trays or unstable sheet.

Problems

Recycled PET loses intrinsic viscosity as it’s processed, and that loss shows up on the line: trays turn brittle, internal regrind can’t be reused, sheet consistency drifts, and downgauging hits a wall. To hold quality, converters end up blending in virgin PET — which caps both recycled content and cost savings.

Opportunity

Every point of rPET you can’t run is virgin resin you’re still buying, and every batch of regrind you can’t reuse is material going to waste. The IV ceiling is a direct ceiling on how far recycled content — and the savings that come with it — can go.

Move from around 50% recycled content to 80–100% while holding sheet stability and forming performance — more low-cost recycled feedstock and reclaimed regrind displacing virgin PET, with less scrap. Higher recycled content that lowers cost rather than raising it.

Proof

  • Enables rPET content up to 100%
  • Fast, low-dosage IV increase
  • Higher use of internal regrind
  • Stronger trays with reduced brittleness
  • Better melt strength, flow and sheet consistency
  • Food-contact compliant (epoxy-free)
  • Proven across aPET, cPET and foamed PET trays

Reactive Recycling™ restores PET properties in-line during extrusion, with no new equipment. A reactive IV-enhancer masterbatch is dosed straight into the process, where it rebuilds polymer chains, raises intrinsic viscosity, and improves melt strength and process stability. It reacts fully and integrates into the polymer, and it’s epoxy-free and food-contact compliant — moving converters from compromised recycled material to high-performance rPET.
