Reactive Recycling

Produce blown film with higher recycled content.

Without sacrificing stability.

Problems

Recycled LDPE and LLDPE fight back on the line. Low melt strength makes bubbles unstable, films break, thickness wanders, and gels and contamination creep in. Most producers cap PCR at 30–50% and absorb the waste and downtime as the cost of going recycled.

Opportunity

The ceiling on recycled content is a ceiling on cost savings. Every point of PCR you can’t run stably is virgin resin you’re still paying for — and every film break is uptime you’re losing. Lifting that ceiling is margin, not just sustainability.

Higher PCR at stable output means more low-cost recycled feedstock displacing virgin resin, fewer breaks, and less scrap — lower total production cost, not the green premium everyone expects.

Proof

  • Stable blown film at ~2.5% masterbatch where production was previously not possible
  • Higher PCR content without losing process stability
  • Fewer film breaks and higher uptime
  • Higher line speeds from improved melt strength
  • No upgauging to compensate for poor PCR material
  • Enables lower-grade and variable PCR streams

Reactive Recycling™ rebuilds the polymer during processing — no new equipment. A functional masterbatch added at the line reconnects polymer chains, restoring melt strength and stabilising the process. The additive reacts fully and integrates into the material, so even challenging, variable PCR streams run consistently. It also helps compatibilise HDPE/PP contamination and can reduce gels depending on the feedstock.
